Launch Applications with Keyboard Shortcut?

I know there is 3rd Party software that does this, but I am wondering if there is anyway to use OSX to launch an application or document using a keyboard shortcut (like F8)?

Nope. Unfortunately the only way is through 3rd party software.

Why do you want the OS to do this? If it works just as well, who cares who it's from?
