Ever since upgrading to Panther, Mail will suddenly just drop a rule that has already been applied to a particular message. I have my messages filtered as they come in so that they are color coded depending on who they are from. As they sit in my in box I will suddenly notice a message that was color coded when it came in to suddenly appear in black. I have to then select the message and use the "Apply Rules" command to get the message to reappear in the correct color. This never happened in Jaguar, but seems to be a bug introduced since I installed Panther. Has anyone else seen this and know what to do about it?

I've had the same problem on my G5 since installing Panther. My ethernet comes and goes, and my entourage gives me frequent messages that it is unable to receive mail. These are momentary and intermittant. Every once in a while entourage just quits after I hit send and I get the opportunity to send a mesage to apple about what happened. I'm guessing that their server is huge if this is happening to all the installed Panther users out there. They probably have to purge the messages hourly. The other feeling I have is that because I am getting similar instability with Microsoft Office X products (word, entourage, powerpoint and excel) this is probably another Microsoft and Apple software engineering issue. I wish those two companies would get it together. I'm hoping the soon to come version of MS Office will correct these annoying events under Panther.
Good luck!

I have the same problem as well. They lose their color after I reply to them. It's annoying. Usually once a day, I select my entire mail box and reapply the filters.

Not to go to far off, but I'm finding Mail.app more and more unsatisfactory. It still can't handle large amounts of mail. Any more than a 10,000 messages in a box and it's like working with taffy.
