This isn't strictly an OSX problem, although is related to it. My company has webmarshall software running, which restricts access to certain sites. Not much of a problem, except that one of the things it does is to ban any sites with "webmail" in the URL. This means that I can't access my .mac mail, which is a pain as I'm often away from home, staying in hotels, and would really like to be able to check my email.

Can anyone suggest any cunning ways around this?

Can you use POP3 access for .mac? If so, how? (Apologies if stupid question)

This is the .mac help file that talks about that. It looks like it can be done relatively easily.

Ehhh yes, of course you can...

Configure your mail client to use:

- Incoming mail server: mail.mac.com
- Outgoing mail server: smtp.mac.com
- Username/password: your .mac username and pasword

(If my memory serves me correctly, the above mentioned page does not tell the servers for some reason, but I am sure this info is to find not too far away from that URL)

Didn't have any luck with using Outlook, I presume the server is just being blocked somehow. But anyway, I found an alternative on the web that works fine: Panda Mail
