I'm having OSX problems with my mouse I'm running 10.2.8 (I know, upgrade), and my mouse (any mouse) stops working correctly, the clicks won't register on the screen.

I'm uising a Microsoft Optical Mouse now, I'm sing the scroll wheel cus it registers in Safari. But the OS, no.

Any ideas?

I keep on having to unplug the G5, and restart it.

Standard maintenance - fsck, repair permissions.
Make a fresh new user... problem still there? That will show whether the problem is systemwide or just your user. Do you have microsoft mouse software installed? Latest version?

Yea, I would check if you have the latest Microsoft Mouse Software installed.

It first occurred when I was using my Apple Optical Mouse (this is what I've used up until now).

It occurrs despite what mouse I use.

You don't need any extra software to support the Microsoft optical Intellimouse. The OS supports it just fine.
