Yay, the Mac now has its own version of the blue screen.
Sometimes, when I try and log out, the desktop picture will disappear as usual, blue screen, and then nothing. Just sits there. No cursor, no login window. I let it sit for some minutes, and nothing happened. I've had force restart three times already because of this. It's bothersome. Any ideas?

Maybe try looking at the system and console logs to see if any significant error are reported.
SOP would be to use the Disk Utility to repair the disk and to repair permissions. The Repair Permissions thing especially seems to clear up a lot of these kinds of problems.

Sigh, it just did it again. Panther is becoming more and more troublesome than Jaguar ever was.
I've attempted to repair permissions a few times, and nothing showed up. I suppose I'll try again, and then boot from the disc and repair the disk. I also found no crash reports or logs on the matter.
Needless to say, I'm a bit frustrated. You think it could be a corrupt preference file? If it's in the same spot as all of the other prefs, I'll try toasting it and see if it does it again. Thing is, it doesn't always do it—just after a bit of usage. It did it just now after waking from sleep—I browsed a bit checked the mail, and logged out, and bam, blue screen. Went for some coffee, came back, and it was still blue. Maybe it's an issue after waking from sleep?
I'll report back my findings. I've never had to reinstall a version of OS X (OS 9 is another story), and I don't want to start now.

You could also try testing it with another User to see if the same thing happens. If it doesn't then maybe something in your Library is corrupt ie. Preferences.
