I'm new to OSX... How do you print a window? Like when you fill a CD with stuff and want to print out the titles of all the files and folders? In Classic, it was under File... can you still do it in OSX?

Unfortunately no, you can't do this in OS X the same way you did in OS 9 (and previous). It's one of those things that make you say "WTF APPLE??". There is a small utility out there (I think it's called Print Window or something) that will do it. Check Versiontracker.

Or you can take a screen grab of the window and print that from Preview. To get a screen grab of the window only, do the COMMAND+SHIFT+4 key combo, and then hit the SPACE BAR. Your cursor will change to a camera. Hover over the window (it will highlight the window) and click. Open that file in Preview and print.

EDIT: here's a link to that Print Window app:

Well, after getting a link off of a versiontracker review, it looks like there's another option to printing the contents of a folder. Here's the link:

Many web browsers (not Safari) can view and print the contents of a folder if you drag it into their window.

Just drag the folder that you want a listing of to the Print Center/ Print Setup Utility icon. It will print a file listing similar to the old print window command in Classic OS.

SnapNDrag is free shareware that allows shots of: a window, screen, or selection. Additionally the output may be saved in JPEG, PNG, or TIFF. Another nice feature is that it has an adjustable timer so that you can get shots of drop down menus, dialog, and alert boxes.

I have used it extensively with no problems.

Yes, drag the folder to the printer is what I do when then printers want a copy, but on occasion, I'll pull a shift + command + 4 then hit the space bar and move the mouse to the window I want. It will take a screenshot and it shows up as a PDF. I burn that to the CD

Yes, it would be nice, but who knows...
