According to macrumors :

Various fixes include:

- Prebinding performance fix
- Directory Services in large Active Directory installations performance improved
- NFS automounter now maintains connections in use
- Network browsing servers now mount on the Desktop and Sidebar
- AFP Authentication options are again available (Keychain for AFP now works again)
- Many other fixes

It looks like this update is what Panther should have been from the beginning.

These same fixes were avaialble in earlier builds. Some video driver issues appeared in 7B40 and when doing large FireWire copying, iTunes would still stutter. The stuttering occurred only with certain FW drives.

I believe we'll all see this update next week...and it promises to be the best Panther updates thus far...

I hope they now use the same dialog box for authentication when browsing Network and when using "connect to server". Anyone can confirm?

Isn't the last update always the best?

Wasn't the case for the first 10.2.8. What a piece of crap release.

Not at all actually...some updates are "bug fixes"....other updates are "performance tweaks" and some updates are both "bug fixes and performance tweaks (new features)"...

... and isn't a bug fixed or performance tweaked or bux fixed and performance tweaked version be it with or without new features better than the previous one with more bugs, less performance, and no new features?

Nope, this has proven many times in the past...as mentioned, 10.2.8...and alot of people say 10.3.2 is far worse then 10.3.1...

Oh well ... but then you have good confidence in the next one after two bad ones recently.

Does that mean this bug won't be fixed in 10.3.3? I use(d) my external hard drive for storing videos and since I updated to 10.3.2 I can no longer play them back without copying them to the internal disk first - otherwise the video and audio stutter terribly.

I haven't tried the latest build to test this bug, and I only saw it when using a external bus powered LaCie pocketdrive. My main start-up drive is an external FW, and I have extensively tested with it, copying to my internal IDE on a MDD867, and it nevers skips a beat in iTunes.

Oh, OK,

It looks like this update is what ProDOS should have been from the beginning.

You did say "ANY Apple OS," and ProDOS IS an Apple OS, that's "only" 21 years old.

Confidence? Certainly.

And I don't think the last (2) have been so bad...
