I updated to 10.3.3 today, I installed speedstart previously on Mac OS 10.3.2. After I updated to 10.3.3 I "unpatched" speedstart, figuring that it was the right thing to do. Now there is 10 to 13 second pause when loading to the login screen which previously was 2 to 3 seconds. I tried using speedstart again, but it doesn't help.

I would have "unpatched" speedstart before updating.

I'd restart a few more times? Same problem?

I download the Mac OSX 10.3.3 stand-alone installer this time, and ran it to overwrite my system and that cured the slow startup after I "unpatch" speedstart. Now my system is speedy again!

EDIT: Initially, I had a fast startup before I "unpatch" speedstart, even after updating to 10.3.3 but i ran into "trouble" after I "unpatched" it.

Most likely the "Unpatch" in SpeedStart ended up removing the BootCacheControl application that had been installed by the 10.3.3 update. Essentially, it un-did the fix that 10.3.3 had done.
