So, for some odd reason, my iBook seems to be taking longer to wake from sleep the past couple of days. It used to wake instantaneously. Now, it takes 10-20 seconds - the internal HD will futz around a bit, and then my external FW drive will spin up, then the LCD screen will light up, then the external monitor. This is somewhat strange. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? is there anything that describes what parts of OS X deal with sleep? (This is an iBook 800 12" with 640 mb RAM, OS X 10.3.3 (also happened with 10.3.2), with an external LCD monitor with the monitor spanning hack).

thanks,

Tyler

How often do you restart your iBook?

I've noticed after I haven't restarted my G4 for awhile it takes a tad longer to get back up to operating speed.

I believe the iBooks copy the RAM out onto the hard drive so that even the RAM can be powered off to conserve power. If you were doing something quite vigourous it might have to copy the majority of your 640MB of RAM which would obviously take awhile, although all of this is from vague memories.
