Just noticed that I have two files:

/etc/!resolv.conf
/private/etc/!resolv.conf

Pointing to:

-> /var/run/resolv.conf

There is no file there and the two files both therefore show broken links.
If I delete the broken link, when running "repair permissions" it recreates the broken link.

What is resolv.conf and how do I put it back?
Thanks.

If you don't have this file it is not necessary for normal operation on your Mac. It would hold DNS server addresses for example if necessary.

/etc is only a symlink to /private/etc, so you don't have the linked file twice.

Seems Apple ate the man file, it was there on previous versions ... search the internet for resolv.conf(5) if you want more info.
