With this crude dialup running 28800 - it took two re-loads and seemingly all day to get it down. Upon startup: the modem refused to connect. "verify settings..." I had no way to get out..

The only thing I could do after running repair permissions, etc. was simply to re-install the original Panther from disks?!

....and still: can no longer mail out...dreamweaver won't start....Safari's gone dead - can't even type in a URL.

PSHP 8, ClarisWorks, Opera and IE are seemingly all OK, but I'm not sure I can ever get back to where I was 48hrs ago...

I ended my last post with: I HATE UPGRADES! I still do...

Woah! That's some bad mojo! 10.3.3 has been the buggiest update for me to date. But nothing nearly as bad as what you are experiencing.

Do I smell a reformat and fresh install coming?

In a call to Steve Jobs - it was suggested that I get this upgrade in disks. (with all the bugz - the poor guy didn't have a clue where to start..)

There's a chance I'm a couple of bites short of the full meal because the dial up dropped the connection a couple of times... (that at least let him go on to another call...)

I DON'T LIKE THIS....

I upgraded to 10.3.3 on my second model iBook, 1 firewire. it kernal paniced at the point that it said that it was complete, then when I restarted it wouldn't go past the first apple and spinning thingy. I then had to reinstall (3 hours later I tryed to upgrade again and this time I downloaded the package from safari instead of softwear update, and it installed fine, and now my laptop is running things like 3 times faster because of this GREAT update, the best panther upgrade yet.

bon't know how this would help but thought I would share my 10.3.3 story.

P.S. there is only one problem I have encountered, the screensaver tab is completely bugged out in Sys Prefs, almost unusable, luckily I had it set up the way I wanted in my coppyed over preffs so it wasn't a big deal.

I'm on dial-up and i downloaded 10.3.3 starting at 10:00 pm ending at 4:30 am. I woke up and saw a message that said it could not download because of an error and i was about to punch my hand through the screen!
I could of turned the mac off a long time ago instead of wasting my time on this update. When i checked to see if the dial up dropped out, it was still running. I repaired permissions today as suggested by a post at macosx.com
I doubt this was the cause of my problem though

We are going to get a cable soon so hopefully the 5 hr wait will be a thing of the past!
Those who archive and install but didn't carry over their user preferences didn't have much trouble i heard.
The only thing that has helped this machine is the 10.3.2 bootup speed advice from Apple's knowledge base

10.3.3 has worked amazingly well for me! Not one problem.

Definitely the most solid version of 10.3.x yet.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.
