Every time I shut down, when I turn my Ibook back on, my hard drive appears in a random place around my desktop. How can I keep my hard drive in one place?

Click on the Desktop, then press command-J to show view options, and make sure you do not have option "Keep arranged by something" selected.

I've also noticed if you have lots of icons on your desktop that the hard drive could lose the battle for the top right and end up living somewhere else...
