On the step where it says "Please choose the destination volume you want to install on" there was nothing listed.

So I took out the disc (install had not begun yet) and tried to start puter as usual.... what I got was a flashing icon of the earth (network icon). I ran TechToolsDeluxe and everything passed except "Volumes"... the diagnostic said original "14gb" info and that it would replace it with "0gb" - I didn't go forward with the repair cuz I didn't want to lose all my data.

Does anyone have any suggestions/help/advice? Please...

I would try to reset the PRAM (hold command-option-P-R during startup). If it doesn't help, try booting into Open Firmware (hold command-option-O-F) and enter the following commands :

reset-nvram
reset-all

If this does not help either, look here.

Well, I finally had time to try your suggestion Pat and the first one worked! How easy that was. I was all set to wipe out my HD and start from scratch... now I don't have to
