I'm using 10.2.8.

Whenever I try running any of the daily/weekly/monthly maintenance scripts manually from the terminal each entry always says "permission denied" or "access denied"

Examples:

Backing up NetInfo data
/etc/daily: /var/backups/local.nidump: Permission denied




ruptime: no hosts in /var/rwho.




Rotating log files: system.logmv: rename system.log.6.gz to system.log.7.gz: Permission denied
mv: rename system.log.5.gz to system.log.6.gz: Permission denied
mv: rename system.log.4.gz to system.log.5.gz: Permission denied
mv: rename system.log.3.gz to system.log.4.gz: Permission denied
mv: rename system.log.2.gz to system.log.3.gz: Permission denied
mv: rename system.log.1.gz to system.log.2.gz: Permission denied
mv: rename system.log.0.gz to system.log.1.gz: Permission denied
mv: rename system.log to system.log.0: Permission denied
touch: system.log: Permission denied
/etc/daily: kill: (314) - Operation not permitted


I have repaired permissions and the situation persists.

Any suggestions??

I figured out why the maintenance tasks were failing to run properly...

I was entering the command incorrectly in the Terminal!!!

I had neglected to preface the command with 'sudo' !!!!
