when i upgraded to 10.3 fink stopped working... ive lived with it for a while.. but i cant stand AIM anymore and need my gaim back... deleted everything and reinstalled.. did a fink selfupdate... told fink to install gaim.. it went for a while, then said there was a conflict problem with x11 and told me to remove these two folders... /etc/x11 and something else i think in bin.. x11rc? so i did that and then todl it to install gaim again.. seemed to go fine. then problems happened

tried to run gaim: cd /sw/bin ./gaim - nothing happened

restarted... and now the x11 program wont even open up! what did i do!?

So are you using Apple's X11 or Fink's X11? In my opinion, the best idea is to use Apple's X11 and just install the Fink X11 "system" packages (essentially dummy packages to satisfy dependencies). Then compile gaim up from that.

You can reinstall Apple's X11 from Disk 3 of your Panther CDs.

I was using Apple's X11, didnt even know there was a fink one... i went ahead and uninstalled everything again... and downloaded X11 from the website (dont have my CD's) and now the installer wont even run.,. non of them will in fact.. they all hang... fink, xcode and x11 installers all just sit there, the installer window opens, but no text ever shows up, the buttons are even blank... ahh!!

EDIT: of course as soon as i write this, i go and try again, and now the X11 installer works... and beofre you ask.. i had restarted a few time and tried it each time and it still wouldnt work... my computer doesnt like me
