After I installed ATI's latest 10.3 drivers/control application, I can't seem to start the ordinary Mac OS X Displays pane in System Preferences — does anyone know how to get it working again? Whenever I click Displays in System preferences, the title says "Loading Displays..." but nothing happens.

Thing is I can't change resolution now or anything, anyone knows anything about this?

Thanks.

If you have updated to 10.3.3, then I think the problem is this: the latest OSX software update will always include the latest ATI drivers, so any 10.3.3 system's ATI drivers are actually newer than the standalone versions downloadable from ATI's website (the newest of which is dated Nov '03). So by installing the drivers from ATI's website, the proper newest drivers already there were overwritten with older ones.

I believe if you download and reapply Apple's standalone 10.3.3 system update, your problem will be solved.

ATI really ought to include a warning on their site: These drivers should not be installed on 10.3.3 as that system already includes updated drivers.

Hope this helps.

The reason I got them was that I needed the ATI Displays program to switch to the TV..

Swimp: I think even after you reapply the 10.3.3 update from Apple, you will still have an ATIUtilities app in /Applications/Utilities/ATI Utilities which will allow you to configure your TV output. But I'm not necessarily an expert, so if anyone out there is more qualified to comment, please do so!
