Hi,
Please let me know if you get this bug when trying to send a fax.
Goto print
select Fax
when Fax comes up press the address button on the top right of the fax window
the window that appears, the cut down addressbook, is locked, it will not close or allow you to select any features
The only way to cancel is to press Cancel on the fax window, below the address pane.
I have a 550PB G4 512mb
Wierd,
The worst thing is I have been using a HP Laptop for the past two months because of the network problems I was experiencing with SMB on the works windows workgroup, that works fine now but I've lost faxing which I also use nearly everyday!
Please let me know if this is common or I'm just unlucky
Thanks

It's common. Confirmed on an 14" iBook running 10.3.3. You cannot select a name from the Address Book but it works if you just type in a fax number...

I just sent a fax 2 days ago without problems. Hmmm -- but now that I think about it I think I upgraded that night, not earlier.
I always just use the number anyway, because using the address book seems to goof things up.
That said, my real reason for posting was to recommend PageSender. I bought it last month and like it quite a bit (I can even fax from my laptop, via the modem on my desktop (and airport Extreme), which I think is quite slick. It offers a few more features than the barebones OSX one. For one thing, it has a "sent" file so you can see if the fax actually went through.
I had lived without faxing via computer ever since 10.1 (because that software with the weird name that escapes me at the moment didn't work and a new version was expensive and also didn't work well) -- so I am VERY glad to have it back. It's cut down on paper and using the standalone fax I also have.

Yup, I have the same problem. Luckily I bought Page Sender when I had Jaguar so I have installed that and all works fine now.

Also -- see the info on the MacNN front page! there's a new donationware to help with Panther faxing. (I'd link it, but I'm in a hurry -- and it IS right on the MacNN page...)

I had no problem, I clicked the address book icon, and all my contacts were available. I could either double click a person or just highlight a name and then click "To" (button in upper right) and their name and number appeared in the "To" field. However, I couldn't test sending a fax as I'm not on a phone line.

Thanks for the comments, it's nice to know it's not just me, the software you where thinking of ealrier is Faxst, again flakey under X.
I'll try page sender, as I need to send to multiple numbers so individual inputting is no option for me.
