Mac OS X's birthday? Or has my memory gone way fuzzy over three years...

Cheers,

Good catch. I can't believe it's been 3 years. I remember when I wanted to like OS X so bad but was so used to OS 9 that I did most of my work there. Now I can't think of turning back!

Today is Public Beta birthday, isn't it? Not 10.0 birthday....
I bought the Public Beta before owning a Mac. Am I crazy?

But most of us started using it at PB, so
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

No, it is actually the birthday of 10.0. I remember it, because at this time I was a promoter at Apple and had a course of instruction. I had it on March 23 and they only let me in after signing the NDA...

.

.

.

.

.

"Ok, time to get some work done..." <switch back to OS 9>

For many, yes. At the time, however, I was doing a lot of work in Linux and Java 1.2, so Public Beta was a lifesaver and made Linux in my home unnecessary.

Yes, today is the birthday of OS X 10.0. Public beta was a Sept/Oct 2000 thing. I don't remember the exact date of it. March 24th, 2001 is clear in my memory though. In fact, I signed up here a few weeks before it to join in on the discussions of the upcoming release. I picked up the link for this place from wincent.org forums, which were pathetic compared to this, but I didn't know it at the time. And now the forums seem to be deserted (and different software too...).

I also started with the Public Beta. Began using OS X full time shortly after 10.0.0 came out. I also had early beta copies of Microsoft Office v.X, so I was able to abandon OS 9 earlier than most.

As you can see, it was today indeed! (down in the versions section). I also remember trying out OS X, then going back to OS 9 when I wanted to get something done. Now it's OS 9 what!?

Hehe *cough* dice, as cool as your sig is, it is a too big according to the guidelines. Oh and it said my ISP was com.au so I guess the HTTP Request script needs a bit more tweaking.

Let me also add my THIRD birthday congratulations to OS X.

Can we copy Epson on this so they will stop steering us toward OS 9 drivers?
