I am used to navigating through my hard disk using the arrow keys, typing the first letter of the item I want, and the Apple-Up and Apple-Down commands. Usually in OS X, if you open up a new window, whether by Apple-N or by double-clicking a Desktop icon, nothing is selected in the window. So, my natural response is to hit $LETTER and the first thing with that letter first in the list gets highlighted. Hitting up or down to select another item should move the selection appropriately, but instead it selects the top-leftmost or bottom-righmost icon, respectively. This occurs if you hit up or down immediately after opening.

Is this something easily fixed, or just something to wait for 10.3.4 to fix? <Even better, maybe nobody's noticed this little problem yet and I'll officially report it. Doubtful>
Actual conversation between UCLA and Stanford during a login on early Internet - U: I'm going to type an L! Did you get an L? S: I got one-one-four. L! U:Did you get the O? S: One-one-seven. U: <types G> S: The computer just crashed.
