i've got a dual monitor set-up and i've been trying to figure out the best way to use it. i'd *really* love to have dual displays (non-mirroring) with 2 docks and 2 menu bars.

is this even remotely possible?

Not really, but you can kind of get multiple docks with DragThing.

Creating is second "dock" is extremely difficult. 10.3 allows you to almost do it, but not quite. Maybe soon there will be a program that allows this feature...

You could try GSDock it will run alongside OSX's Dock. It will lock to one of the sides of the screen so you could probably get it to stick to a second screen. It mimics most of the Dock's functionality.

I've been wanting this for a long time. To me the only advantage of the Windows approach of putting the menu bar in the window is with multiple monitors. Why should I have to switch screens to hit the file menu?

THere used to be a CMM for OS 9 that allowed you to right-click and bring up the menu bar in the Context Menu, does such a thing exist in OS X?

DejaMenu does this:

Not a user myself, but the reviews seem positive.
