Hey...
All right, some back story here. My iBook that came as 10.2 which I upgraded to 10.3 had a harddrive issue a month ago. I got it fixed...but the harddrive was wiped.
I had backed up some months before, so it wasn't a total loss. Anyway, I copied over just about all the important stuff I could find. I also copied over the keychain from before.
Well, I changed my comp's password from what it previously was. Now, whenever I need the keychain the first time after booting, it asks me for the password. What's funny is that it wants the old password.
Before, I didn't need to put in the pw at all.
Anyway...it's not the biggest deal ever. Typing in one pw is better than all of em
But, if anyone has any idea what I could do to rectify the issue, I'd be much obliged. Thanks.

I would do the following:
1.) Open "Keychain Access" from:
Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access
2.) From the "Window" menu of Keychain Access...open the "Keychain First Aid"
3.) Click the "Options..." button
4.) Hit "Reset my Keychain"
That will clear and revert you back to default factory settings and put all your old keychains aside. Now, you'll be getting a fresh "Keychain" start again...
Hope that makes sense!

Wouldn't that delete all the keychain entries - precisely what the original poster does not wish to do? How about this instead: open Keychain Access, then go to the Edit menu and selecting "Change Password For Keychain"

Hey...yeah, I wasn't going to delete all my keys. And thanks for the suggestion. At least now all I need to do is remember one universal password. And if that's the best I can do...it's not the end of the world.
But it still asks for permission to use the keychain the first time it is needed(whether it be in iChat, Camino....whatever). So it's still kind of annoying. But, again, it's not something I can't live with.
Thanks for the help.

You should be able to copy all your old keychains into the new keychain file so they will all open when you log in. Open Keychain Access. Click on show keychains. the login keychain is your default and should be bold. There is probably another keychain shown in the drawer, your old one with your old pword. You should be able to copy the items from the old into the new and then delete the old.

The default one is bold...there are two other ones. One is called "login" and the other is "system"
Both have nothing in them. :/
