...anybody knows where to find the prefs or the plist of the users startup items in 10.3.3?

I cannot find these in /Library/StartupItems nor in Users/Kate/Library .

This should be in /Users anyway but where?

If you have specified a startup item that has issues and this leads to an infinite loop of the OS at startup, how can I disable the startup of the faulty app?

This should be in /Users/Kathy/Library/Preferences/loginwindow.plist

You should be able to inhibit lauding the "startup item" by holding down the shift key when logging in and then simply disable it using System Preferences.
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

.....I did look in com.apple.loginwindow.plist but was too stupid to look in loginwindow.plist.

I should not work on software without having a second cup of coffee.

Thanks!
