After a long time on the phone with Applecare, we've decided to move to a new user. But we want to make sure we don't lose things from the old user that we dont' have to, like music, entourage, bookmarks, pictures, and preferences where possible.

Any ideas on the best way to do this and be able to have this new account become "My Account" in the Accounts panel?

Put everything you want to move over into /Users/Shared. Log in as new user. Move things from /Users/Shared to wherever they're supposed to be. End of story.
