I have been leaving my iMac on 24/7 for the last two years. The display goes to sleep in a minute after using the hot corner. Lately, when I move the mouse to start the display, nothing happens. The power light is still on and the hard drive is spinning, but I can't get anything to start up and the display stays dark. Also, I have experienced five kernel panics in the past 3 days. I have only had one before, ever. I can get it going by holding the power button and restarting, but I was wondering what to do to solve this problem, and could it lead to more serious problems?

Have you added any new peripherals lately? Installed any software that messes with system-level stuff?

It could just be that some piece of hardware has decided to fail on you. Try removing RAM pieces.

I haven't added any peripherals, I have restarted, fsck -y, and run Disk Warrior. When I ran fsck I saw 'orphaned indirect node temp 13301784 & 13318758' and 'invalid volume count is 285507 should be 285506' I just restarted after another panic with the printer and external drive turned off to see if that changes anything.

It might not be a bad idea to look at /Library/Logs/panic.log
It *can* tell you a lot, like precisely what caused the panic.
