How exactly do you have it hooked up?
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

usb to the mdd 1.4 dual mac, turned on windows sharing, turned on printer sharing, went to the windows machine to add a network printer, gave it the address of \\the ip\machine name\ as the mac said to, and it apparently see's it but does not want to connect, says access denied

any ideas?

edit: the reason for this is because Microsoft word X will not print certain things the same when you get the .doc from a word 2003 for windows .doc

Did you allow Windows access to your Mac? I recall that doing so asks you to specify a "Windows networking password." I think there's an option in the Login preferences pane that specifies whether a particular account can be used to access local files over the network.

On the Windows end, you'll have to make sure to supply the correct username and password. I don't think an account-less/password-less solution can be done over the GUI. I think I'd know how to get it to work that way, but you'll need to either access the Terminal or edit the /etc/smb.conf file manuall yourself.

Edit: On second thought, I think Samba Web Administration Tool (SWAT) may be of help. Not sure if it comes with Mac OS X by default, though.
