I don't know what's causing this... but, it's pretty annoying.
At least once or twice a day I have to restart my dock because minimizing windows gets really choppy... It's WAY enough to notice (I'm on a 1GHZ G4 PowerBook). After I restart the dock, everything is fine. It was like this on my iBook, iMac and now my PowerBook... Even with a fresh copy of Panther.
I wish there was a fix for this. I already sent in a report to Apple...
Is there any way for anyone to try and find the source of this problem? Let me know if you are having a similar problem.

Are you doing any heavy processing in the background?

This happens every once in a while for me every day—two to three times. My first suspicion is it occurred after doing some CD burning or anything related to some hardware activity, but it seems pretty random. It also does it if I attempt to start Classic, but then cancel. Goes from smooth. high-framerate minimize transition to about 3-4 frames.
I have had this problem since Jaguar, right from the beginning, when I started using OS X. Still hasn't been fixed yet, but I've sent the problem to Apple. You guys should, too.

Maybe there's a memory leak in the dock. Once, I suspected it to be Stuffit Expander 8.0 so I upgraded to 8.0.1 and the problem went away (or did it?). Now it's back again and I don't know what to do.

Upgrade to Stuffit Expander 8.0.2?

I think it's got to be something to do with the Dock, since killing it will bring back the smooth framerate of the minimization.
