ok after my ibook 933 with osx 10.3 boots and goes to desktop it hangs. the dock loads up and the menu bar time and icons do also but nothing else. the menu bar dose not load untill i click on a shortcut in the dock like my docs or the general finder shortcut. and the destop icons do not load untill i do the same as above. i have macaroni installed and i ran every job. i tuned off all 2nd party apps. i restored my icons in candybar and applyed the default theme in shapeshifter. im new to mac and os x so bare with me. the only thing i did last night was apply the new BBX 1.3 theme and change a few icons. i havent installed anything in the last few days.

thanks so much if you peeps can help.. im freaking out!!! and very scared i did something bad.

Somehow you must have broken the Finder. I'm not sure how you did it exactly, but I bet it has to do with themes and icon sets. Try repairing permissions with Disk Utility and cleaning caches with Cocktail or a similar app. Try making a new user and seeing if the problem happens in the new account. If you can't undo the damage then you will probably have to reinstall OS X.

Try booting up from the OS X install CD and fixing the problem using Disk Utility.

I'm pretty sure the energy saver settings had nothing to do with it. Regardless, I hope your problem stays fixed.
