Geez! On the themes under "Site Menu" all 4 clearly have a large picture shown, however when I upload any pic it's also thumbnail size even when published...is there something simple I'm missing?

They are templates. In order to change them, you'll have to go in and edit the HTML code after you publish the page. And I'm assuming you are wanting the thumbnail previews to be bigger? Not the picture you get by clicking on said thumbnails, correct?

Precisely...how would I do this? Argh I got this to be simple and AVOID HTML, now it looks I'll be doing it anyway...

That's a question I can't answer. I'm HTML illiterate.

And .Mac makes things simple, but sometimes just a bit too simple. It would be nice to have a little control over the templates.

Use iPhoto, chose the export, then export to HTML tab. The pages will be pretty plain, but I think there's some plugins on Versiontracker to fix that (better html export is one, I think)
