how can you make it so it asks for password everytime you want to access a certain directory? Same with files? is this possible?

Thanks...
You'd need third party software to accomplish that. Back in the days of OS9 there were several tools that would do this, but I'm not aware of any for OSX.
You could always put the files in an AES-encrypted disk image, but that may not suit your needs from the wording of your question.

It's best you'd create an encrypted sparse image with Disk Utility.

o okay...I just wanted to lock some files away. (ie. have a password protected zipfile), recommend any software that does this?
