I convinced a co-worker to buy a Mac and he got hisself a new Powerbook (right after they updated the line). He brought it over to work yesterday so I could help him configure it and I was tryign to get him on our wireless network. We have the router set up to only allow specific MAC addresses to access it but I wasn't able to find his using System Profiler.

I'm still on 10.2.8 but it shows up clearly under System Profiler when you expand the Network Overview dropdown (both the ethernet and airport MAC addresses). I couldn't find the corresponding information on his machine (running 10.3.3). Under the Airport Card dropdown, all it listed was the firmware version. We checked all the other options but couldn't figure out how to find the MAC address for his Airport card.

It occurred to me this morning that maybe this information is in the Network pane of System Preferences. Is this where I should direct him to look?

Thanks.

Ya, if you select Airport from the Network pane, it listed right there. Apple calls it the Airport ID.

FYI:

You can find the Airport MAC address in System Profiler (Panther) under the "Network" option. I believe its called "Ethernet Address" actually, which you'll see once you click/highlight "Airport" configuration.

You can also find this information via "Network Utility"...
