the mysterious other (a login question..)

i upgraded my friends ibook from 10.1 to 10.3.
she is the only user; there are no others in the accounts pane.
but when she boots up, she is listed in the login screen, plus ""other"...
how do i delete "other"?

Is root-enabled? If so, disable root. "Other" is your root login.

To disable the root user, go to Applications/Utilities and start Netinfo Manager. Click on Security from the application menu and choose Disable Root User. You have to use an admin account to do this.

When using OS X Server, you can also define users on the server machine and have OS X client read this list of users from OS X Server. Other is how these users would login.
