I have an iPod which I normally record my class lectures on. After which I convert the WAV files into AAC format. After I do this, the lectures take up about half as much space. However, I recently upgraded to Quicktime 6.5.1. I've noticed after the upgrade the speed of encoding slowed down (from ~13.0x to about ~10.0x ). But I realized after the encoding was done that the files now only took up about a third of the space . I was wondering if anyone knew what changes were that were made of Quicktime 6.5.1. Thanks.

Tom

Sounds like you're using a different bitrate or a different format altogether. There's no other way you could go to a smaller size. Check your prefs.

True. But since Noopie didn't notice a change in sound quality, why not keep it like this?
Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

Oh, I agree completely. In fact I'd look into further lowering the bitrate. You really don't need much for voice.
