What would a mac to mac only equivalent to a "windows" type UNC (\\server\share) path be? Would it be finder|connect to server then use afp://?

Thanks!

afp://server/share

Similarly, Windows shares can be accessed by

smb://server/share

Oh hey - remembered another part of my question. Any way to make a "link" link in mail that's clickable? So when I email someone they can just click the link at it will connect to that server/share on the network?

Thanks.

is that person on a mac or PC?
is the share an NFS share, an SMB share, and FTP share, a WEBDAV share, an AFP share........and so on ad nauseam.

in general:

Code:
protocol://server:port/path/to/share
looks familiar?

I bet you could have figured that out by looking in your browsers address bar, eh? :stick:
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

Kristoff, I don't know if you are reiterating what has already been answered (with a dash of attitude) or suggesting that that makes a clickable link. But in either case, that does not make a clickable link in Mail to an AFP share (or SMB for that matter) in my experience. That's what I am wondering at this point. is there a way to make a clickable link in Mail?

Thanks.

afp://server/share/ creates a clickable link in Mail--it just doesn't show up as clickable when you compose it. Send a test mail to yourself with an afp:// link and it'll show up when you receive it.

Doesn't work for SMB, though. I'd write a bug/enhancement request on it if I were you.

Ineed it did, I tried it simply by saving a draft and opening it. No link there. Thanks for the info Moose, and my apologies to Kristoff (if in fact that's what he was trying to point out)

Thanks.
