Hi, I want to do a particular job but it needs to be automated.
I want to open a file (which plays a streaming radio station in itunes when opened) when the computer starts up but ONLY when it is a scheduled start up.
I also want it to make sure that my audio output is set to my iMic if possible.
This is so I can have my stereo come on in the morning (which it does anyway) and when its set to 'aux' which my imic is connected to it will play the streaming radio station.
I couldn't find any startup items folder like in OS 9 (im using panther) but even if there was one, a script would open up the file when its not a scheduled startup.
Im not experienced with AppleScript but i tried pressing record and changing my audio output to my iMic, it wrote nothing so Im guessing system prefs are not scriptable.

I couldn't find any decent programs that do this, bear in mind the iMic thing is only a minor thing which I could ignore Im just scared I will forget to change it to the iMic at night and wont wake up the next morning!

Thanks

It can? Apologies if I'm being daft and missing something, but how do you do this?

There's an option to open a file under the alarm settings for an event.

I don't think so, but you can do that through the Energy Saver prefs panel. It can either boot up your Mac from cold, or from sleep. Pretty neat too.

I've been poking my head in from time to time, just haven't said much.

You will also need to have your Mac autologin to your account too. iCal won't run reminders unless you're logged in.
