Dear friends, must give you this story.
From inside Extensis Portfolio 6, photo database organizer, syncronize in File view is a drag. Not well thought out. Remove root folder but delete subfolders with the same button. So I managed to delete a folder with photos and the went off. Yes totally gone!
Not in trash, no recover w Norton Utilities and UnErase helped.

After searching for recover software for a long time, I found
VirtualLab at http://www.binarybiz.com/
Free session to search for 1Mb, just to see what it can do. I paid $150 for 10Gb and got all my files back. Well worth that cost, absolutely.
Most files had different file type - like 4th Dimension instead of iPhoto or jpeg or psd. But sorting in size and checking the files in different ways managed to bring the total 10Gb down to 1Gb. And that was the size of the deleted folder.
I found this piece of OnLine software really good.

People say that OsX deletes files much more effecient than earlier systems.
Anyone else with good results from recovering?

All yours

From now on... might I suggest backups? Photos are super easy to backup. Just burn entire catalogs to DVDs.
