When I attempt to access a site using a Pop-Up / drop down username / password entry, safari never gets beyond "Contacting ...."

For example, I was attempting to update the firmware on my router. I entered the routers address. The progress bar began moving across the addres as it would when loading any page, but would not complete the page load, nor would it display the username / password dialog box.

Internet explorer and Netscape allow me to access the same sites (my router included).

Any ideas?

I know safari is twitchy with some routers, what model do you have?

I've got a NetGear RP614v2.

However, this is a new problem and is not limited to just accessing the router. It occurs with ANY website having a username / password that drops down.
