I have done some Googling and looked through the Apple Developer site without much luck!

I can create Disk Images that will open a custom Finder window when mounted, but I can't figure out a way to make a Finder window pop open when a CD/DVD is inserted. How does Apple (and other developers) get a Finder window to open up itself when a CD is mounted (like the OS X CD)?

I have tried burning my custom disk image (that is set to open a finder window when mounted), but that doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone have some information on this?

Thanks,

System Preferences-> CD and DVD-> see picture

Can alter it to however you like depending on what is inserted (blank or not).

Sorry, you misunderstood...

I want to create a CD (from a disk image) that causes the Finder to pop a window open when inserted (like the Mac OS X Install CD). Developers must know how to do this, but I haven't found anything on the ADC site.

Hmm, it doesn't work to simply have the disk image window open, in the position and arrangement you want, before you burn it? I think doing that will create a .DS_Store file with the correct settings to make the folder pop open when the CD is inserted...

I have read that it should work, but I have tried several times and while I do see a .DS_Store file created within Toast, the Finder window does not open itself when the disk is inserted (although the window and icon placement is correct).

If anyone could test this and report back that would be great. If it does work for someone, please list steps to reproduce. Maybe I'm overlooking a very simple step.

Thanks!
