Ok, from what i have heard from the posts, archiving is like erasing all memory on a computer. Is this is or not. My second question, how do you archive the computer.? lol, and how the hell do i learn all the programing all you mac gurus already know, do you take classes, or do you just learn this from the web, or are you born with the knowledge.?

Archiving in the sense the Finder uses it in its File menu is creating a compressed ZIP archive.
My second question, how do you archive the computer.?
Wrap it in foil, put it in a box with styrofoam chips, and store it in the basement.

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

From Webopedia:
archive
Last modified: Tuesday, April 13, 2004
(v.) (1) To copy files to a long-term storage medium for backup. Large computer systems often have two layers of backup, the first of which is a disk drive. Periodically, the computer operator will archive files on the disk to a second storage device, usually a tape drive.
On smaller systems, archiving is synonymous with backing up.
(2) To compress a file.
(n.) (1) A disk, tape, or directory that contains files that have been backed up.
(2) A file that contains one or more files in a compressed format.
(adj.) In DOS systems, the archive attribute marks files that have been modified since the last backup.
