just like my subject sais, is there any way that i can see the contents of the encrypted .dmg file withought having the password?

you can actually store your entire home folder on an encrypted image that gets mounted on login, Apple has this documented.

you can also use Panther's FileVault capabilities.

there is a procedur for using a disc image a s ahome folder, that mounts on login, can't find it though, try searching the forums.
