i know i shouldn't...but i need to load osx on a powermac today, but only have the install dvd that came with my powerbook. can i use it to get the powermac g4 up and running, and use a normal copy, or upgrade to panther in a few days' time? if so, what issues should i be aware of? thanks for any insight.

OS X is OS X. There are no variants for different machines. So yes, it would work.
