Hi all...

after years of being careful with my back up, I made an error
yesterday... I wanted to reformat my Ti so it would have just 2 partitions [instead of 3] and as always I backed up... but I forgot to put my os9 documents folder in there! So, everything I wanted kept safe is on my firewire drive [and now back on my Ti] with the exception of my os9 documents folder. I have Diskwarrior and Norton and I'll have a go using them to recover files after work tonight... but are my chances blown in getting that folder back? Shame 'cos it contains all my user data for my email and other apps etc etc...

Always be extra careful when backing up no matter how experienced you are...

Thanks in advance...

DataRescueX can get them back, in case the files have not been overwritten yet.

Yeah, don't use anything else. DataRescue will backup them to the firewire drive without changing your internal drive. It cannot break somthing. And I've never seen a drive where DataRescue couldn't save the files and Norton/DiskWarrior could. That application is simply great. (And no, I have nothing to do with the developers )

Thanks for the help! DataRescueX worked a treat... I recovered my os9 documents and replaced them in my os9 directory... Only one snag though, upon opening up outlook express or entourage it still doesnt show all the folders I had and the emails i had saved in them. I have tried importing from outlook express but no joy and trying to import from a text file doesnt seem to have worked either. I'm just not sure why this hasnt worked as I'd hoped... but still a great recovery app, thanks again

Some of the files may have been overwritten since they were erased. Unfortunately, if you delete a large number of files like this, there's a good chance that you won't get all of them back.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
