After updating to 10.3.4, when I "edit" a school in simcity 4, first my screens go black, then the sound stops, and then all I can do is force reboot. The machine is no more pingable.
I have a PM 450DP, with an ATI 9000 PRO Mac edition, and a 17"ADC CRT plus another 17" VGA CRT attached.
Anyone's got same kind of trouble ?

I have a very similar, if not the same, problem. Now that a city is above 50k population, things are VERY slow, and any attempts to work with schools, or even save and quit, cause a crash.
I am operating at a below "minimum requirements" level, when it comes to the processor speed (400 Mhz) and video card (16 MB). I am replacing the video with an ATI 9000, and perhaps the processor with a Sonnet 1.2Ghz. I will let you know what, if any, improvements happen.
I would imagine that your processor is part of the problem. Secondly, are you using both monitors when playing the game?
