Does any one where to get X11 for Jaguar? I cant seem to find it anywhere.

If it is not available anymore, what else would I use/install?

Ton, X11 is on the install disks for Panther. Or yo can download if from Apple.com.

As for Jaguar, can anyone help?

If X11 is not for Jaguar anymore, what do I use instead? XFree86?

Anyone....

Download Gimp.app. It contains a link to Apple's X11 for Jaguar.

Forgive my dumb question: Do I really have to reboot the system from DVD1 to get X11 installed? I just can't find it when I start the Installer from App/Utilities.

For Panther, you need to find the X11.pkg on your install CDs/DVDs. If you have the retail Panther, it's on the 3rd CD. If you got it with your computer, it might be in /Applications/Installers or it might be floating around on the Software Install DVD. If you still can't find it, you can download it from http://www.apple.com/macosx/x11.

For Jaguar, Apple originally made available an X11 beta for that OS at the same URL. They discontinued it when the final release was out (shipped with 10.3). You could try compiling it yourself, the source is available at http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/. Either that or XFree86 should still work (Fink should have packages that work).

Or you can just download Apple's X11 for Jaguar by getting the link from the Gimp.app download, like I said. That's by far the easiest way.

OK. Got X11 running. Got 3d pong and gimp running. But, when i'm running gimp, xterm in the background says:
"Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library"
Gimp runs, but it does say that on xterm while running.

My mistake--it's in the readme. The link posted above doesn't work for me, so I'll just post the one from Gimp.app:

You can pretty much ignore that... though it is irritating. There is a workaround for it.

export LC_ALL=C

in the xterm and then try running the Gimp. Does the warning go away?
-DU-...etc...
