Any suggestions would be appreciated. I installed the 10.3.4 update from 10.3.3 on a G3 Pismo. Everything appeared perfectly fine until I tried to use my firewire CD burner (QPS Que Fire 16x10x40x) and I discovered that discs no longer show up on the desktop (blanks or otherwise). I went into 'about this mac' and the drive shows up now (when connected) as a generic 'Firewire Device.' I don't know whether it was specifically recognized before as a burner, as I never had reason to check. I repaired permissions on the hard drive, but that didn't do anything. Unfortunately I don't have access to any other machines now (10.3.4 or otherwise) to test.

Nevermind!! I reset the drive/connection by disconnecting everything, turning off both the drive and the Pismo, and leaving both off for like 30 seconds. When I reconnected and rebooted, the drive was back. Nothing to do with 10.3.4 after all, I think.

Nothing to see here... move along....

Yup. Otherwise, people will think that a minor OS update can kill their burner... just like you did.

Verify your claims before you jump to conclusions. With firewire devices, try unplugging them from the firewire port and plugging them back in. You probably didn't need to shut everything down.
