Hi All,
I just tried to upload some files onto my website and had to learn that Finder does not follow symbolic links *) on the server.
I.e. in my home directory on the webserver there is a reference to the document root elsewhere on the server.
That inhibits me from uploading my files since I don't see how to change into a directory which is not reachable via Finder.
When I do a connect via commandline FTP there is no problem, I can change to the linked directory - but that's rather uncomfortable.
Any way to get round this and manage to upload the files via Finder though?
Thanks a lot, :-) Michael.
*) like mainwebsite_html -> ../../var/www/html

... well, meanwhile I had to learn that upload is not provided by Finder.
Ok, but how can I change to a linked directory on the server for download?
Thanks, Michael.

Is that a well known issue?
Thanks, Michael.

Doesn't seem to be too well known since noone has responded. When I ftp to sites oftentimes the symbolic links show up as plain files. That happens with different clients and servers, so it isn't just the Finder.

My advice: just download RBrowserLite and make that your FTP client. It's a million times better than Finder with a fairly similar interface.
