For about forever on OS 10, Ive had intermitent problems with InternetConnect.

sometimes on dialing, "connect" it doesn't seem to do much, then tell me there is a problem and chceck settings or the physical connection to the phone system.

these are solved by connecting a second time.

but sometimes, on disconnect, the program jams up and just says its disconnecting ( forever and ever) and doen't not really do this.

using force-quit does not solve this, as after force quit and reopening IC it says its disconnecting.

the only way Ive been able to solve this when it happens is "Restart" this is a pain as it takes time, interrupts whats going on elsehwere on the computer, etc.

any thoughts?

Machine is G4 Dual 1gz 780 RAM lots of HD. this has happened on the same version of computer ( and idential machine elsewhere)

thanks Rotut

I thought Id add what i learned from Apple PaloAlto 'genius' as mydisconnect and faiure to really disconnecct problem had gotten worse.

the genius has had a lot of experience in the SF Bay area working with large modem farms.

he said connecct tieh V90, do not check send PPP packets, and if continues, call the provider

I use earthlink, and there are 19 local numbers where I live.

he thought the problem was most likely on the other end, and in trying a fe different modem numbers I THINK my problem has decreased.

good luck
