i have a folder with avi video files that play in quicktime. for some reason i just can't assign color labels to the files here!!

the option is greyed out. i can assign color labels to other files in other folders. i really need this to work for organizational reasons.

any ideas?

wow. after posting i RANDOMLY solved my problem. the extension's .avi were in CAPITAL letters.

any idea why it wouldnt let me assign color labels to exstensions in capital?

also, there are tons of files... any way to change all the capital .avi parts of the filename to lowercase .avi?

thanks

Applications -> AppleScript -> Install script menu

Navigate to your folder then hi-light the folder with the items you want to change. Then click the script menu at the top of your screen Select ->Finder Scripts-> Change Case of Item Names

No problem, there's no overhead for the applescript menu that I know off. You can just apple-click and drag it off the menu-bar if you don't want it there, then launch it when you need it again. I keep it there because I've got the screen real-estate.
