I am trying to import three miniDV tapes into iMovie. The only problem is that iMovie crashes and stops importing somewhere near the beginning of the second video.

This seems to happen when there is a little less than one gigabyte of space available. The thing is that I have a second available hard drive, but there seems to be no way to have iMovie use the space on this drive. Of course, this is only a guess, perhaps the problem lies elsewhere, but it is very frustrating. I suppose I could edit the movie in parts, the only problem is that I want to include some parts of the later tapes in the beginning.

It sounds like you just want to save your project onto the second hard drive.

To use the space on drive other than the startup, create a new project on the other drive.

As clearly displayed in several locations, ALL threads about applications belong in the Software forum.
