Is there a good way to get secure file sharing through the finder? I'd like to be able to mount a remote volume with encryption. The most obvious way to do this, I think, would be to create an ssh tunnel for AppleShare (or whatever it's called nowadays). I suppose the same would be possible with FTP and SAMBA since both can be mounted in the finder. If I create an ssh tunnel in the terminal for whatever server on the AppleShare/FTP/SAMBA port, the finder will make it's connection through that tunnel, right?

The Finder already supports this. When you get to the point where the server is asking for a name and password (AFP, that is), click the button in the bottom left of the window. Tell it to enable SSH tunneling and save it as the default. If, for some reason, SSH tunneling is not possible, you will get a warning after connecting.

Oh. Cool. I didn't know that. Thanks.

Actually, if SSH isn't an option, the Finder gives you an "incorrect password" type dialog. Not "I tried to do SSH but can't", which would be more appropriate.

Edit- OS X.2 server does that, apparently my 10.3 client machine at home behaves differently....
