X11 Broken, Quits Silently

I'm on a G4 Powerbook/1.25, with 10.3.4. X11 used to work fine but now whenever I launch it, the 'X' cursor appears briefly and then X11 quits silently. Any applications that i try to launch (xman, xlogo, xterm) never launch. Here is what appears in console.log:

XFree86 Version 4.3.0 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600)
[DRI] screen 0 installation complete
Screen 0 added: 1280x854 @ (0,0)
Quitting XDarwin...

I tried re-installing X11 a few times but it hasn't changed anything.

Do you have a ~/.xinitrc? If so, what's in it?
